How to contribute
- Open any compendium article (e.g. Arizer Solo).
- Click ✏️ Suggest an edit in the table of contents on the right.
- The article body becomes editable in place. Make your changes.
- Optionally drop in your own photos (paste or drag-and-drop into the article body).
- Click Submit changes. Add your name and email if you want to be credited — both fields are optional.
That's it. Your submission lands in our moderation queue. We review every edit. Approved changes go live within minutes.
What makes a great edit
- Real-world experience. Tips you've learned from actually using the device — best draw technique, ideal grind, sweet-spot temperatures, what works and what doesn't.
- Corrections. Wrong specs, outdated information, broken model variants, mislabeled categories. Fix what's wrong.
- Missing context. Maker history, manufacturing changes, version differences, discontinued accessories — the kind of thing only enthusiasts remember.
- Maintenance and quirks. Cleaning protocols, common failure modes, repair tips, mod options.
- Photos of your own device. Real-world shots beat marketing photos. Show wear, fit, scale, accessories, side-by-side comparisons.
Photo guidelines
- Photos must be of the actual device the article covers — or a close peripheral (stems, batteries, accessories) where it adds context.
- Maximum 5 MB per image. The editor automatically resizes large photos before upload, so phone photos almost always work without prep.
- JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF. Don't worry about format — the editor handles it.
- If the photo isn't yours, only submit it if you have permission to share it. We can't accept watermarked manufacturer imagery without authorization.
- No people in shots unless they've consented to appear. Hands holding the device are fine.
What to avoid
- Don't reorganize the article structure. Sections (Overview, Specifications, Community Reception, Tips & Techniques, etc.) follow a consistent pattern across the compendium. Add to them — don't rearrange them.
- Don't promote products or vendors. Affiliate links, referral codes, "buy here" calls-to-action, and personal store URLs will be rejected. The compendium is editorial, not commercial.
- Don't replace existing content wholesale. If you disagree with what's there, refine it — don't delete it. If something is genuinely wrong, fix the wrong part and explain in the optional note.
- Don't add personal attacks or vendor disputes. Disagreements with manufacturers or other community members belong on a forum, not in a wiki article.
- Don't paste copyrighted text from other publications. Original community knowledge or your own writing only.
Review process
Every submission is reviewed by a human (currently the maintainer). We look at:
- Is this factually plausible? Does it match what's known about the device?
- Does it preserve the article's structure and tone?
- Does it improve the page for future readers?
- For photos: is it the right device, in reasonable quality, and appropriately scoped?
Most edits land within minutes of approval. If something gets rejected, it's usually because it conflicts with one of the guidelines above. We don't currently send a notification on rejection — but if you want to know what happened to a specific submission, email us.
Recognition
If you provide a name and email when submitting, you become eligible for our Honorable Mentions program — recurring contributor spotlights in the newsletter and (eventually) a dedicated contributors page on the site. Email addresses are never published or shared, only the name you provide.
Conduct
- Be respectful. Disagreements with other contributors are fine; personal attacks aren't.
- Be honest. Don't claim experience you don't have or invent specs you can't verify.
- Be patient. Reviews are human-paced. Sometimes that's an hour. Sometimes it's a day.
